CoinTurret
A spot crypto exchange with an order book, custodial wallets, KYC and a trading terminal.
CoinTurret is a spot cryptocurrency exchange built for a business that has to answer to regulators. It's in development, with deposits tested against a private Bitcoin chain.
It runs on Openware's Peatio and Barong. Peatio handles trading, accounting and wallets. Barong handles accounts, logins and identity documents. They don't share a database: Barong signs the tokens and Peatio verifies them with a shared key. I wrote the trading terminal and the gateway in front of them in Laravel, because the upstream front end is only licensed for non-commercial use.
I picked the licences as carefully as the architecture. A regulated business gets asked what right it has to run its own code, so everything in the stack is permissively licensed, and the one dependency that changed its licence is pinned to its last open release. Market data goes through InfluxDB and events through RabbitMQ.
